What is a ‘Canary in a Coal Mine’ and what has it got to do with Autism?
An allusion to caged canaries (birds) that miners would carry down into the mine tunnels with them. If dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide collected in the mine, the gases would kill the canary before killing the miners, thus providing a warning to exit the tunnels immediately.
In our more modern time, the analogy is used as a reference to:
Something or someone who, due to sensitivity to his , her or its urroundings, ascta as an indicator an early warning of possible adverse condtion or danger.
….And the link with Autism…..
In an earlier article, I wrote about the 80,000+ toxic chemicals as part of the industrial revolution which have been grandfathered into current lifestyles and Western ways of living.
Toxins are everywhere and our daily exposure is on the increase. We come into contact with them in our foods, water supply, personal care products, home furniture and soft furnishings, utensils, medications and many, more and there has never been so many harmful energies emitted by wi-fi, radiation, x-rays. The most challenging thing is……..we can’t see them…….they don’t come with a warning sign………..but I see them, every day when I’m doing my health screening.
It may differ by individual, exactly what and how many toxicants they are holding in their cells, however, these toxins have harmful effects, they displace the biochemistry, clog up the organs and systems, weaken the immune system and cause dysfunctions across all the glands.
These toxins, while dangerous to ALL of us, can completely derail the BEST of efforts from families who are navigating ADHD and autism. Why? Because these kids are most sensitive to their environment, just like the ‘canaries in the coal mine’. They’ll display symptoms before those of us less sensitive will.
You may have read…….’we are not sick, we are tox-sick’.
Yes, the human body has all the detoxification biology we have kidneys, a liver, and a lymphatic system, however when the burden is too great for these organs the can no longer function and then the underlying imbalances become dysfunctions, which then turn into symptoms and then collectively there is a diagnosis.
So what can you do about it? Well cleaning up your home environment is something you can start to do immediately, it’s a low-cost solution if you can afford the time and the energy. There is no point starting a detox regime or investing in supplements whilst your child is still living in a danger zone environment which is constantly providing reexposure on a daily basis.
In my breakthrough kit, you’ll find a Toxin checklist to help you get started.
